TEMPORARY Lead & NON Lead Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator – Limon Port of Entry

About the role

This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $18.00 - $19.00 per hour. Employment starts March 8, 2026, through October 31, 2026. This announcement remains open until filled.

Responsibilities

• Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Antero Reservoir.
• Inspect boats entering the State of Colorado with respect to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
• Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by providing printed material to those visiting or returning to Colorado.
• Work independently or in pairs to inspect boats entering the State of Colorado with respect to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
• Report directly to the inspection station.
• Boat inspection training will be provided.
• Early morning, evening, and weekend work required.
• Site lead boat inspector will be responsible for providing on the job training to inspection staff, creating schedules and making sure all shifts are covered during operational hours, collecting and verifying accurate time keeping records for payroll purposes, working with area work lead to resolve challenges with staff and customers, and recommending hiring/firing of employees to area work lead.
• Ensure inspection station staff are following standardized protocols by performing quality control assessments on a monthly basis.
• Ensure that data entry is being performed accurately and completely by all inspection station staff.
• Maintain inventory of all required supplies.
• Perform basic maintenance & troubleshooting on power washer/decontamination unit.

Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications:
  • Possess a high school diploma.
  • Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word applications – Word, Excel, Access.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early mornings, and late evenings.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent customer service experience working with the public.
  • Reliable and timely.
  • Able to self-motivate and work independently.

  • Able to self-motivate and work independently.
  • For Non-Lead Position: Must be 16 years of age or older.
