About the role
This posting is for both LEAD and GENERAL Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator positions. In supplemental questions, please specify which position you are applying for.
Responsibilities
- Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols.
- Inspect boats launching and leaving the reservoir, focusing on invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
- Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species by distributing printed materials to visitors.
- Work independently or in pairs to conduct inspections.
- For LEAD Inspector:
- Lead boat inspector responsibilities, including providing on-the-job training to inspection staff.
- Create and manage schedules for inspection shifts.
- Collect and verify accurate timekeeping records for payroll purposes.
- Resolve challenges with staff and customers, and recommend hiring/firing decisions to the area work lead.
- Ensure inspection station staff follow standardized protocols through monthly quality control assessments.
- Maintain inventory of required supplies and perform basic maintenance & troubleshooting on power washer/decontamination units.
- Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early mornings, and late evenings.
- Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong customer service experience working with the public desired.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently.

Basic Requirements
- At least 16 years of age or older.
- Current and valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
- Willingness and ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
