About the role

This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $18.50-$19.50 per hour. Employment starts April 28, 2026, through September 30, 2026. This posting is for both Lead and Non-Lead Inspector positions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols.
  • Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species topic by providing printed material to those visiting the reservoir.
  • Work independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the reservoir, with respect to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
  • Report directly to the boat ramp.
  • Receive boat inspection training.
  • Work early morning, evening, and weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early morning, and late evenings.
  • Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent customer service experience working with the public.
  • Reliable and timely.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or comparable work experience preferred.

Skills

  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience performing boat inspections and decontaminations.
  • Experience working with the public in a customer service-related field.

Pay

$18.50-$19.50 per hour.

Schedule

Early morning, evening, and weekend work required.
