Lead & NON Lead Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator –Kenney Reservoir

About the role

This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $18.00 per hour. Employment starts 04/25/2026 through 10/31/2026.

Responsibilities

• Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Kenney Reservoir near Rangely, Colorado.
• Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by providing printed material to those visiting the lake.
• Work either independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the lake, with respect to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
• Lead Inspector responsibilities include:
• Providing on-the-job training to inspection staff.
• Making sure all shifts are covered during operational hours.
• Verifying accurate timekeeping records for payroll purposes.
• Maintaining inventory of all required supplies.
• Working with a supervisor to resolve challenges with staff and customers.
• Ensuring inspection station staff are following standardized protocols.
• Ensuring that data entry is being performed accurately and completely by all inspection station staff.
• Performing basic maintenance & troubleshooting on power washer/decontamination unit.
• Providing public outreach on aquatic invasive species.

Requirements

• Reliable transportation and ability to work weekends, holidays, early morning and late evenings.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Reliable and timely.
• Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
• Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines and/or heavy equipment.
• Excellent customer service skills and/or experience working with the public.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age or older.
• Current and valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Willing and able to work early mornings, evenings & weekends.
• Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines and/or heavy equipment.
