About the role
This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $20.00-$21.00 per hour. Employment starts 04/28/2026 through 10/31/2026.
Responsibilities
- Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Ruedi Reservoir near Meredith, Colorado.
- Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by providing printed material to those visiting the reservoir.
- Work either independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the reservoir, with respect to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
- Site lead boat inspector will be responsible for providing on the job training to inspection staff, creating schedules, making sure all shifts are covered during operational hours, verifying accurate time keeping records for payroll purposes, and recommending hiring/firing of employees to Invasive Species Specialist.
- Ensure inspection station staff are following standardized protocols by performing quality control assessments on a monthly basis, ensure that data entry is being performed accurately and completely by all inspection station staff, maintain inventory of all required supplies, perform basic maintenance & troubleshooting on power washer/decontamination unit, and provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species.
Requirements
- Reliable transportation and ability to work weekends, holidays, early morning and late evenings.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Reliable and timely.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
Qualifications
- Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines and/or heavy equipment.
- Excellent customer service skills and/or experience working with the public.
