TEMPORARY Lead & NON Lead Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator - Taylor Park Reservoir

About the role

This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $19.00-$20.00 per hour. Employment starts May 1, 2026, through October 31, 2026. This announcement remains open until filled.

Responsibilities

• Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Taylor Park Reservoir.
• Work either independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the reservoir, focusing on invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
• Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species by distributing printed materials to visitors.
• Report directly to the boat ramp and receive boat inspection training.
• Work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early mornings, and late evenings.
• Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Customer service experience working with the public.
• Reliable and timely.
• Ability to self-motivate and work independently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent work experience.
• Possess and maintain a current and valid Driver's License.
• Pass background screening and/or driving record review.

Skills

• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience performing boat inspections and decontaminations.
• Experience working with the public in a customer service-related field.
