About the role
This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $19.00-$20.00 per hour. Employment starts May 1, 2026, through October 31, 2026. This announcement remains open until filled.
Responsibilities
- Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Taylor Park Reservoir.
- Work either independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the reservoir, focusing on invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
- Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species by distributing printed materials to visitors.
- Report directly to the boat ramp and receive boat inspection training.
- Work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early mornings, and late evenings.
- Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Customer service experience working with the public.
- Reliable and timely.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent work experience.
- Possess and maintain a current and valid Driver's License.
- Pass background screening and/or driving record review.
Skills
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience performing boat inspections and decontaminations.
- Experience working with the public in a customer service-related field.
