About the role
As a Technical Writer III, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Integrated Operations Support Center (IOSC). You will play a crucial role in developing, editing, and maintaining documentation to support the mission of the customer.
Responsibilities
- Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation supporting engineering, installation, testing, operations, and sustainment activities.
- Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, Test Plans, SOVTs, User Guides, Maintenance Procedures, Checklists, and Technical Reports.
- Research, collect, organize, and interpret technical information from engineers, drafters, installers, subject matter experts, and government representatives.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for multiple audiences.
- Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and installation packages to develop accurate written deliverables.
- Perform technical editing, proofreading, formatting, and quality assurance reviews to ensure documentation meets organizational standards and customer expectations.
- Maintain document revision history, version control, and configuration management practices.
- Develop and maintain document templates, style guides, and standardize content to improve consistency and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve the documentation processes, templates, workflows, and organizational knowledge management practices.
- Support customer reviews, technical audits, documentation validation, and deliverable verification activities.
Requirements
- Associate of Arts/Associate of Science degree.
- 3+ years of related experience.
- Active DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- US citizenship required.
- On-site full time.
Skills
- Technical writing, editing, and document formatting.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
- Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of DoD technical documentation standards and practices.
- Knowledge of the Shore Installation Process Handbook (SIPH) and SOVT Preparation and Execution Guide (SPEG) is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify gaps, research technical information, and develop accurate documentation from multiple sources.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the initiative to independently seek clarification, engage subject matter experts, and obtain missing technical information required to complete documentation.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with engineers, drafters, installers, and government stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.

Pay
The likely hourly rate for this position is between $46.75 - $63.25. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements.
