Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation.
- Write and edit technical documentation for all project hardware and software, including installation, configuration, and how-to guides.
- Create code documentation, implementation guides, end-user guides, and field/data definition/data-flow documentation.
- Format technical publications using pamphlets, technical drawings, and consultations with technical personnel.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides, manuals, and technical publications.
- Gather technical information and prepare written text for various types of documents.
- Maintain a current internal documentation library using tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Collaborate with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials across all phases of documentation.
- Prepare reports, responses, and briefings for a wide range of audiences.
- Coordinate layout and design of documents; research highly technical subject matter and organize information from multiple sources.
- Express technical information in written form comprehensible to a broad audience.
- Write technical copy based on engineering drawings, technical information, consultations with engineers, and subject matter experts.
- Produce defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, training manuals, and other documentation for DoD electronic equipment and systems.
- Interpret engineering and maintenance drawings and operational procedures to blend large quantities of computer-related information.
- Produce technical documentation for Cryptologic programs or projects developing analytic tradecraft methodologies.
- Apply technical manual standard NSA DS-89 to work products.
Requirements
- Six years of experience as a Technical Writer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university; four years of additional Technical Writer experience may substitute for the degree.
