About the role
The Technical Writer will join a team providing managerial, design, engineering, architectural, technical, implementation, and maintenance support for an enterprise IT service management system in Annapolis-Junction, MD. This role involves preparing, reviewing, revising, and maintaining technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides, manuals, and technical publications.
- Write and edit technical documentation for hardware and software, including installation, configuration, and how-to guides.
- Create code documentation, implementation guides, and end-user guides for capabilities.
- Provide field, data definition, and data flow documentation.
- Format technical publications using pamphlets, technical drawings, and consultations with technical personnel.
- Gather technical information and prepare written text for various documents.
- Maintain a current internal documentation library.
- Use word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Work with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials across all phases of documentation.
- Prepare reports, responses, and briefings for a wide range of audiences.
- Coordinate layout and design of documents.
- Research highly technical subject matter, organize information from multiple sources, and express it in written form for a broad audience.
- Write technical copy for documents of similar complexity under general direction.
- Apply technical writing concepts using engineering drawings, technical information, and consultations with engineers and subject matter experts.
- Produce defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, training manuals, and other documentation for DoD electronic equipment and systems.
- Interpret engineering and maintenance drawings, operational procedures to understand and blend large quantities of computer-related information.
- Produce technical documentation for Cryptologic programs or projects developing analytic tradecraft methodologies.
- Apply technical manual standard NSA DS-89 to work products.
Qualifications
- Six (6) years of experience as a Technical Writer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university (four (4) years of additional Technical Writer experience may substitute for the degree).
- U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI with FSP security clearance.
Pay
Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00. Pay ranges are a general guideline and not a guaranteed final compensation. Official compensation relies on factors such as position level, job complexity, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, and contract wage rates.
