Technical Writer

About the Role

The Specialist, Technical Writer creates, develops, and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, and test procedures for formats including paper, multimedia, and web-based publications.

Responsibilities

• Research and translate technical information into user-friendly manuals and digital documents for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Conduct interviews with users and technical staff to gather necessary data.
• Document engineering processes, specifications, and maintain digital manuals such as flight and maintenance manuals.
• Recommend suitable formats based on technical and customer needs.
• Ensure products meet company documentation and quality standards.
• Collaborate with engineering stakeholders and customers to capture data and schedule requirements.
• Manage and update digital publications using FrameMaker and other tools, ensuring compliance with security clearance requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree with four years of technical writing experience, graduate degree with two years, or eight years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with technical documentation for flight and maintenance manuals preferred.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency with MS Office, FrameMaker, and digital publication tools.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance.
