Technical Writer

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Writer to support major utility capital projects, including transmission, distribution, substation, generation, and grid modernization initiatives. This role will partner with project managers, engineers, construction managers, project controls teams, and executive stakeholders to develop, maintain, and improve project documentation, procedures, reports, presentations, and communication materials.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain technical documentation, policies, procedures, manuals, reports, and presentations
• Support PMO and project controls processes, governance requirements, and documentation standards
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather and translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation
• Manage document control, versioning, and knowledge management practices
• Develop spreadsheets and reports to support project tracking, analysis, and executive reporting

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of technical writing, project documentation, project controls, PMO, or document control experience
• Experience supporting engineering, construction, capital projects, or utility operations
• Strong technical writing, editing, and document management skills
• Familiarity with utility infrastructure projects, including transmission, distribution, substations, or generation (highly preferred)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Teams, and project management tools such as Primavera P6, Oracle Unifier, Maximo, or Power BI
• Experience supporting utility, energy, engineering, construction, or other regulated industry projects
• Ability to transform complex technical information into clear, accurate, and professional documentation
• Knowledge of transmission & distribution systems, substation projects, capital project delivery, process improvement
• Advanced Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
