About the role
This position is part of a dynamic team supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City. The role focuses on providing technical writing expertise to assist in the publication of technical documents, including creation, revision, and updates.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical writing expertise to support the creation, revision, and updating of technical documents.
- Develop and create documents and procedures using plain language and continuous process improvement methodologies.
- Participate in meetings and provide technical writing input for documentation needs.
- Propose timelines for documents, subject to FAA approval.
- Ensure 508 compliance for posted documents.
- Contribute input and suggestions for writing style guides and internal standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Coordinate submitted documents, including review, comment resolution, and finalization per FAA order and Quality Management System (QMS) processes.
- Maintain and retain backup files in electronic format for archival and update purposes.
- Deliver electronic copies of files, reports, and products by assigned deadlines in Microsoft Word and/or Adobe Acrobat formats.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of prior relevant experience, or a master’s degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience; additional experience may substitute for a degree.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Teams.
- Ability to map business processes, prepare documentation, and perform analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the Federal Aviation Administration organizational structure and policies.
