This is an unpaid internship lasting 6 to 9 months, with the possibility of a full-time position based on performance, job requirements, and availability. Reports to Adrian Delancy, Technology. Location: Chicago, Illinois.
About the role
We are searching for a Technical Writer who will write code documentation and instruction manuals for both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are critical to success in this role.

Responsibilities
- Work with department managers to gather information to develop and write instruction manuals.
- Identify and recommend improvements to current documentation templates and processes to enhance quality and timely delivery.
- Coordinate and follow up on the progress of submitted documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduated or currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and deadline-driven.
- Clear, precise, and compelling writing skills.
- Able to effectively communicate.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools to create documentation.
- Previous software development experience.
- Understanding of the systems development life cycle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience in technical writing, preferably in the technology or software industry.
- Strong proficiency in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation, including user manuals, technical specifications, and API documentation.
- Familiarity with industry-standard documentation tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or Microsoft Word.
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and quality assurance testers.
- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and communicate them effectively to a non-technical audience.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
