Technical Writer and Deliverables Lead

About the role

A program office runs on its deliverable cadence, and the documents that carry it have to be accurate, on time, and readable by every audience that touches them. The Red Gate Group is seeking a Technical Writer and Deliverables Lead to support a Department of Defense intelligence customer, producing clear documentation that meets both technical accuracy and regulatory compliance standards while owning the recurring contract deliverable cadence for a newly established joint program office.

Responsibilities

• Produce and maintain recurring program deliverables, including monthly activity reports, quarterly business review briefs, transition plans, and project plans.
• Develop Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation in accordance with NIST SP 800‑37 and DoD RMF guidance, such as system security plans, security assessment reports, and authorization packages that support the Authority to Operate process.
• Translate complex technical concepts into accessible documentation for diverse audiences.
• Support broader status reporting and project‑management artifact production.

Requirements

• 5+ years of technical writing or IT project support experience, with recent experience within the last 2 years (experience requirement cannot be satisfied by education or certifications).
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, **or** an Associate’s degree in a related field plus 2 additional years of relevant experience, **or** 4 additional years of relevant experience. (With a Bachelor’s you need 5 years; with an Associate’s 7 years; with no degree 9 years.)
• Demonstrated experience producing RMF documentation supporting the Authority to Operate process.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with a current CI polygraph.
