Technical Writer 2

The role will join a worldwide engineering, operations, and tech refresh contract supporting Enterprise IT (EIT) capabilities and functions for our Intelligence Community (IC) customer. Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with agency-appropriate polygraph are required.

Responsibilities

• Create and write various types of user documents, including how-to guides, references, manuals, cheat sheets, or instructions.
• Explain scientific and technical ideas in simple language.
• Translate customer functional requirements into detailed technical specifications.
• Support the engineering team with documentation for system components and engineering artifacts.
• Provide overall leadership of technical writing tasks and serve as primary liaison to the government for contract coordination and task execution.
• Serve as Process Owner for all technical documentation on the program, including documentation produced by professional technical writers under management.
• Write and edit technical documentation for all project hardware and software, including installation, configuration, and how-to documentation.
• Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation.
• Apply writing and grammar skills to deliver accurate documentation under tight deadlines.
• Design and develop developer-oriented documentation and collaborate directly with developer teams.
• Use documentation tools to develop templates and create output in various mediums.
• Manage experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance with agency-appropriate polygraph.
• United States Citizenship.
• Bachelor’s Degree plus 7 years of experience (or equivalent), with a minimum of five years in a technical or lead writing role.

Skills

• Ability to distill complex information into clear, concise text.
• Excellent writing and grammar skills; ability to work independently and deliver accurate content under deadline pressure.
• Proven experience designing and delivering developer-oriented documentation and working directly with development teams.
• Experience using multiple tools to develop base templates and manipulate output styles.
• Thorough understanding of software development, Risk Management Framework (RMF), IC ITE, and other key contract terminology.

Pay

$38.28 - $71.24 per hour. Yearly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to: relevant prior work experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies.
