Technical Publications Writer
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Technical Publications Writer to create technical manuals, reference materials, online help, and other documentation for both internal and external audiences. You will produce clear, descriptive content and collaborate with multiple departments and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy. This role involves using a variety of tools, technologies, and media to complete documentation tasks and coordinate the production and distribution of published materials. You may lead projects requiring broad technical knowledge and will handle complex issues independently.
Responsibilities
- Create and write documents that support the company’s publishing goals, while participating in peer reviews and occasionally reviewing the work of colleagues.
- Proactively identify the need for technical updates and make revisions to published documents.
- Ensure all publications comply with Technical Publications, Marketing, Legal, and Corporate standards.
- Assist in the development of procedures for electronically archiving documents.
- Coordinate the print and/or electronic publication of materials as needed.
- Conduct content research to support team members and project needs.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to others, and serve as a lead writer or supporting lead writer to meet project goals.
- Design effective page layouts and visuals that clearly communicate the intended message.
- Review engineering prints, system diagrams, and parts lists to identify and correct errors.
Requirements
- Ability to understand and apply comprehensive subject matter knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong project management capabilities.
- Proficient understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, hardware/software integration, troubleshooting, assembly techniques, and applicable tools.
- Knowledge of PC operating systems and system software.
- Proficiency with key software tools relevant to the role, such as CCMS, FrameMaker, Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Office Suite, PLM, and AI-based tools.
- Experience using Simplified Technical English.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree or related technical certificate.
- 1+ years of relevant professional experience.
Schedule
Hybrid schedule—collaborate in person at our Greene, NY office 3 days a week and work remotely 2 days a week. Typical first shift hours, Monday through Friday.
Pay
Salary range: $62,353 - $72,000 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.
