Handshake is seeking experienced software engineers, data scientists, and quants for flexible, part-time contract work supporting AI research. This is a project-based opportunity that can be taken alongside your current role.

What You'll Do

• Create expert-level technical problems and scenarios grounded in real system design, modeling, and analysis work
• Review and evaluate AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, practical feasibility, and alignment with actual work practices
• Provide structured written feedback to help improve AI model performance
• Complete tasks at your own pace with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement

Qualifications

• Industry/research experience — minimum 1 year of professional experience at a top company, with direct hands-on work as a software engineer, data scientist, or quant
• Education — Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
• Sub-domain depth — demonstrated expertise in one of the following areas:
• Software engineering (system design, backend/infrastructure, or production code)
• Data science (machine learning, statistical modeling, or applied ML)
• Quantitative finance (quant research, trading strategies, or risk modeling)

Additional Qualifications

• Experience at a recognized, top-tier tech company or quant firm
• Based in the United States
• Strong written communication and attention to detail
• Able to explain complex technical concepts clearly
• Able to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
