Primary Responsibilities

Write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications.

Communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences through effective and concise technical writing.

Acquire system knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.

Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts required within technical and operations manuals.

Develops, updates, and integrates remove and replace procedures within technical orders and maintenance manuals.

Provide technical writing/editing for technical data, ensuring file configuration control, and compliance against contract requirements.

Conduct quality review of materials developed by other technical editors on the team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
  • 2 Years with Bachelors; 4 additional years of experience required in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents.
  • Experience with developing products IAW MIL-STD 40051-1 and 40051-2.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, and experience in manipulating grammar.
  • Experienced in querying authors for clarity and compliance purposes and must be skilled in Microsoft Word, MS excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in utilizing the Maintenance Manual change process.
  • Experience writing in XML/S1000D International Specification for Technical Publications/IETM/Data Module writing (Arbortext, EAGLE, XMetal, or similar program).
  • Familiar with developing products IAW MIL-STD 38784B.
  • Experienced with configuration management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced in creating multi-configuration, multi-effectivity indentured parts lists from engineering and LSA data.
  • Experienced with Isometric IPB graphics and layout.
  • Experienced in creating and revising IPB’s using MIL-DTL-38807 or MIL-PRF-38807.
  • Previous experience developing manuals on complex ground systems.

Primary Level Salary Range

$62,700.00 - $94,100.00
