About the role

A Technical Consultant plays a crucial role in delivering technical consulting services to our customers, focusing on SUSE technologies. Responsibilities include implementing solutions, performing hands-on configurations, and contributing to the design and optimization of customer environments.

Responsibilities

Act as a technical consultant for SUSE technologies, providing expert guidance and implementation support to customers.
Assist Lead Architect in larger projects as necessary.
Work with customers to implement solutions based on SUSE technologies, ensuring successful deployment and integration.
Carry out intermediate hands-on configuration and coding activities as required to address customer requirements, such as working on Automation Scripting.
Maintain a proficient level of understanding of the SUSE portfolio of products, staying current with new releases and best practices.
Possess a good understanding of complementary technologies, such as other distributions of Linux, Kubernetes, etc., to provide comprehensive solutions.
Participate in Scoping activity for all engagement types, helping to define project requirements and deliverables.
Able to articulate the benefits of SUSE technologies for users, clearly explaining how our solutions address their needs.
Establish and maintain long-term relationships with users, building trust and ensuring ongoing customer satisfaction.

Requirements

Automation Scripting: Ability to work on and implement automation scripts for system configurations.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information to customers and internal teams.
Complementary Technologies: Good understanding of related open source and cloud-native technologies (e.g., other Linux distributions, Kubernetes, SUSE Rancher, SUSE Security, SUSE Virtualization, VMWare, OpenShift).
Customer Engagement: Ability to lead smaller-scale customer engagements from a technical perspective.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
Product Portfolio Knowledge: Proficient understanding of a range of SUSE’s product portfolio.
Relationship Building: Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with customers.
Scoping Activity: Participation in and contribution to defining project scopes and Statements of Work.
Solution Deployment: Experience in implementing and deploying solutions based on SUSE technologies.
Solution Optimization: Ability to contribute to the optimization of customer solutions.
Teamwork: Strong collaborative skills, working effectively with colleagues and customers.
Tech Knowledge: Technical experience with IT systems administration, scripting, automation and development.

Pay

This position is subject to a background check(s), including criminal, credit, and/or employment references. The candidate is required to complete the background check(s) once an offer has been accepted. This will be conducted by SUSE’s external provider, where legally permitted. For US Only - US Pay Transparency Disclaimer If this role is filled in the United States of America, the starting base salary will be within the applicable pay range displayed below. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for a commission plan and a competitive benefits package.

Schedule

Flexible schedule to accommodate remote work and travel as needed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and 3+ years of relevant experience in IT consulting, system administration, or a similar field. Proven success in delivering technical solutions and excellent problem-solving skills are essential. Experience with SUSE technologies is preferred.
