About the role
Planet Technologies, the Nation’s leading Microsoft services provider to the public sector, is seeking a Cloud Consultant to join their growing team. This role involves supporting impactful projects that make a difference for the country, working with clients to grow their presence across AWS and Azure Cloud platforms.
Responsibilities
- Partner with clients to form long-lasting relationships and assist with their cloud platform growth.
- Assist with technical writing, security assessments, licensing questions, and other cloud-related tasks.
- Support the implementation of AWS and Azure cloud technologies, including Compute, Storage, Networking, Virtual Machines, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Security and Compliance, Federation with external identity platforms, and Infrastructure.
- Manage and maintain AWS and Azure subscriptions and tenants.
- Design, construct, configure, and maintain all facets of cloud environments.
- Develop and execute CI/CD pipelines for cloud deployments.
- Troubleshoot AWS and Linux issues as the subject matter expert.
- Optimize costs and performance of cloud resources.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Azure and related core technologies.
- Assist clients in exploring and setting up new Azure technologies.
- Provide specialized expertise in selected technologies as an internal expert and escalation point.
- Surface and analyze customer business requirements, translate these into architectural designs, and influence the deployment of key infrastructure components.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of Linux OS and its supported technologies and systems.
- AWS Cloud experience and expertise.
- Azure Cloud experience and expertise.
- Experience with AWS or Azure Government.
- Kubernetes, container, and related technologies experience.
- Governance experience.
- Linux System administrator experience, OS management, patching, application management, etc.
- Red Hat Enterprise, Ubuntu, and GNOME Linux experience.
- Technical certifications in Linux, AWS, and Azure.
Qualifications
- Experience with AWS or Azure Government.
- Knowledge of AWS and Azure core platforms (Compute, Storage, Networking, Virtual Machines, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Security and Compliance, Federation with external identity Platforms, Infrastructure).
- Experience with AWS or Azure Government.
- Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and related technologies.
- Experience with governance and compliance.
- Experience with Linux System administration, OS management, patching, application management, etc.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise, Ubuntu, and GNOME Linux.
- Technical certifications in Linux, AWS, and Azure.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to create processes, documentation, and set standards in several practice areas.
- Ability to lead technical projects and support customer projects.
- Ability to implement related technologies and understand their direct dependencies.
- Ability to navigate new or unknown technical areas and quickly get up to speed to support customer requirements.

- Expertise in making critical decisions around features and capabilities, and referring additional products or services within the specific areas of technical competence.
- Experience in articulating escalations and communicating progress to stakeholders effectively.
