About the role
A Technical Consultant at SUSE plays a crucial role in delivering technical consulting services to our customers, focusing on SUSE technologies. This role involves implementing solutions, performing hands-on configurations, and contributing to the design and optimization of customer environments. Key responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
- Implementing solutions based on SUSE technologies, ensuring successful deployment and integration.
- Carrying out intermediate hands-on configuration and coding activities as required to address customer requirements.
- Maintaining a proficient level of understanding of the SUSE portfolio of products, staying current with new releases and best practices.
- Possessing a good understanding of complementary technologies, such as other distributions of Linux, Kubernetes, etc., to provide comprehensive solutions.
- Participating in Scoping activity for all engagement types, helping to define project requirements and deliverables.
- Able to articulate the benefits of SUSE technologies for users, clearly explaining how our solutions address their needs.
- Establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with users, building trust and ensuring ongoing customer satisfaction.
- Providing internal feedback to improve Services offerings, contributing to continuous Process Improvement.
- Understanding feature requests and advocating for customers with Product Management and/or Engineering, ensuring customer voice is heard.
- Working with existing customers to maintain customer satisfaction, proactively addressing their needs and challenges.
- Effectively leading smaller scale customer engagements from the technical perspective, taking ownership and driving successful outcomes.
- Demonstrating strong customer service and communication skills, ensuring clear and effective interactions at all levels.
- Demonstrating a willingness to accept feedback and ability to develop new skills and/or strengthen existing skills, showcasing a Growth Mindset.
Requirements
The role requires a solid understanding of the appropriate segment of the SUSE Portfolio, good knowledge of complementary technologies, and effective communication skills to articulate the benefits of our solutions. This includes:
Qualifications
- Automation Scripting: Ability to work on and implement automation scripts for system configurations.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information to customers and internal teams.
- Complementary Technologies: Good understanding of related open source and cloud-native technologies (e.g., other Linux distributions, Kubernetes, SUSE Rancher, SUSE Security, SUSE Virtualization, VMWare, OpenShift).
- Customer Engagement: Ability to lead smaller-scale customer engagements from a technical perspective.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Product Portfolio Knowledge: Proficient understanding of a range of SUSE’s product portfolio.
- Relationship Building: Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with customers.
- Scoping Activity: Participation in and contribution to defining project scopes and Statements of Work.
- Solution Deployment: Experience in implementing and deploying solutions based on SUSE technologies.
- Solution Optimization: Ability to contribute to the optimization of customer solutions.

Pay
