Tax Managing Director, Core Tax Services
About the role
The Tax Managing Director is responsible for advising clients on tax implications, evaluating alternative actions to reduce tax burden, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. They also serve as a key member of the leadership team, directly supervising associates, and participating in marketing and business development activities.
Responsibilities
- Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Manages engagements to meet engagement management metrics.
- Identifies and conducts necessary research to address complex issues.
- Applies technical expertise to income tax provisions, particularly in international tax, valuation allowances, business combinations, and stock-based compensation.
- Develops and implements efficient methods to maximize client benefits, especially by reducing taxes or expenses.
- Develops and introduces new or improved ideas to enhance client positions, the Firm, or Firm personnel.
- Provides written and verbal performance feedback to associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Schedules and manages workload for associates, senior associates, and managers.
Requirements
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, a master's degree in Accountancy or Taxation, ten or more years of relevant tax experience, and a CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (or the equivalent of one of these designations).
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include industry expertise in one or more tax specialties, prior supervisory experience, proficiency with tax research databases and tax compliance process software, and strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.

Pay
Salaries range from $175,000 to $350,000, depending on location and experience.
