Tax Managing Director, Core Tax Services
About the role
The Tax Managing Director is responsible for advising clients on tax implications, evaluating alternative actions, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. They also serve as a key member of the leadership team and actively participate in business development.
Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance: Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens. Manages engagements to meet management metrics.
- Research: Identifies and conducts necessary research, frames issues, and reports findings. Identifies complex issues and provides research methodologies.
- Tax Accruals: Applies Firm policies and standards to correctly and proactively apply FAS 109 and FIN 48. Reviews and applies income tax provisions efficiently.
- Tax Consulting: Assists in developing and implementing methods to maximize client benefits, especially by reducing taxes or expenses. Applies expert knowledge of tax specialties.
- Tax Specialization: Develops in-depth understanding of one or more areas of taxation, advises clients on tax implications, and recommends alternative courses of action.
- Strategy Development: Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve client positions, the Firm, or Firm personnel. May present complex strategies to clients and prospective clients.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises associates, senior associates, and managers. Reviews work, provides feedback, schedules workload, and acts as a career advisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, or a related field.
- Masters in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- At least ten (10) years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience.
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (or the equivalent of one of these designations) required.
- Software proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and tax research databases.

Skills
- Expertise in ASC 740 (FAS 109 and FIN 48).
- Knowledge of income tax provisions in international tax, valuation allowance credits, business combinations, and stock-based compensation issues.
- Ability to recognize and communicate potential risks and changes in tax policy.
- Proficiency in tax compliance process software.

California Range: $190,000 - $335,000
Colorado Range: $185,000 - $225,000
Illinois Range: $175,000 - $250,000
Maryland Range: $185,000 - $260,000
Massachusetts Range: $215,000 - $300,000
Minnesota Range: $170,000 - $250,000
New Jersey Range: $190,000 - $350,000
Ohio Range: $150,000 - $300,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $230,000 - $350,000
Washington Range: $196,400 - $249,400
Washington DC Range: $190,000 - $300,000
