About the role
The Tax Managing Director advises clients on tax implications, evaluates alternative actions to reduce tax burden, and acts as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. They also serve as a key member of the leadership team and actively participate in marketing and business development.
Responsibilities
- Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Manages engagements to meet engagement management metrics.
- Identifies and conducts necessary research to address complex issues.
- Applies technical expertise to income tax provisions in areas such as international tax, valuation allowances, business combinations, and stock-based compensation.
- Develops and implements efficient methods to maximize client benefits, especially by reducing taxes or expenses.
- Develops and introduces new or improved ideas to improve client positions, the Firm, or Firm personnel.
- Provides written and verbal performance feedback to associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Schedules and manages workload of associates, senior associates, and managers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, or a Master's in Accountancy or Taxation.
- At least ten (10) years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (or the equivalent of one of these designations).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and tax research databases.

- Ability to work well in a team environment and develop and manage a team of tax professionals.
- Capable of composing written tax advice and developing and maintaining client relationships.
