About the role
The Tax Managing Director advises clients on tax implications, evaluates alternative actions, and acts as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. They also serve as a member of the office/region leadership team and actively participate in marketing and business development.
Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance: Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens. Manages engagements to meet engagement management metrics.
- Research: Identifies research needs, frames issues, and reports analysis. Identifies complex issues and provides research methodology.
- Tax Consulting: Assists in developing and implementing methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing taxes. Applies knowledge of tax specialties and recommends solutions.
- Tax Specialization: Develops in-depth understanding of one or more areas of taxation. Advises clients on tax implications and recommends alternative courses of action.
- Strategy Development: Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve client, Firm, or Firm personnel positions. May present complex strategies to clients and prospective clients.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises associates, senior associates, and managers. Reviews work, provides feedback, schedules workload, and manages performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, or a related field.
- Masters in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- At least ten (10) years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience.
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (or the equivalent of one of these designations) required.

Benefits
Annual salary range varies by location, ranging from $175,000 to $350,000. Benefits may include an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
