Tax Experienced Manager, Transfer Pricing
About the role
As a Tax Experienced Manager in Transfer Pricing, you will advise clients on the transfer pricing implications of their business objectives, recommend alternative courses of action, and identify methods for complying with transfer pricing regulations. This role involves marketing, networking, and business development within your area of expertise, as well as recognizing and applying changes in tax policy to compliance practices.
Responsibilities
- Complete financial analysis related to intercompany transactions, including evaluating industry and client financial data to document appropriate intercompany pricing policies.
- Identify when research is necessary and frame issues for investigation.
- Participate in determining the scope of transfer pricing projects, establishing budgets and timelines, and drafting and presenting proposals to prospective clients.
- Administer economic analysis and compose final reports to ensure compliance with transfer pricing requirements.
- Propose year-end transfer pricing reviews where applicable.
- Determine appropriate transfer pricing methods under IRS regulations and OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines.
- Ensure tax engagement letters are adopted before commencing work.
- Conduct detailed reviews of transfer pricing facts, data, and issues through the engagement.
- Manage engagements to meet established metrics and complete project planning and scheduling.
- Represent clients before tax authorities on contested issues, with guidance from senior professionals.
- Develop, recommend, and implement transfer pricing methods tailored to specific transactions.
- Prepare planning and documentation reports, applying relevant regulations to client data.
- Analyze the applicability of new regulations and report findings to senior leadership.
- Identify opportunities to utilize internal and external expert resources for engagements.
- Spot opportunities for additional consulting specialties and federal tax cross-selling, presenting them to senior management.
- Provide transfer pricing advice to align with client tax goals and maximize benefits.
- Apply transfer pricing principles in tax provisions and FIN 48 contexts.
- Review tax provisions related to transfer pricing and partner with Assurance professionals for tax accrual reviews.
- Identify opportunities and prepare presentations to pitch service capabilities to clients and prospects.
- Draft proposals, statements of work, and engagement letters.
- Research transfer pricing topics and summarize recent developments for reporting.
- Create tax alerts to communicate developments to external audiences.
- Develop slides for internal and external presentations.
- Prepare and deliver training materials on topics of interest to internal audiences.
- Work on special projects to develop the practice, improve efficiencies, or enhance processes.
- Use tax research databases and other tax-related software; knowledge of statistical packages is preferred.
- Supervise the day-to-day workload of Transfer Pricing Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates, reviewing their work product.
- Train team members on relevant tax software.
- Evaluate performance, assist in goal-setting, and provide feedback for professional development.
- Act as a Career Advisor to team members as appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Six or more years of prior experience, with a focus on transfer pricing.
- Experience supervising professionals on a project or engagement basis.
- Experience reviewing tax provisions from a transfer pricing perspective is preferred.
- Knowledge of the interplay between transfer pricing and other tax areas is a plus.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Exposure to tax research databases and tax-related software; knowledge of statistical analysis software is beneficial.

Pay
Individual salaries are determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The national salary range for this role is $94,500 - $189,000. Specific ranges for NYC/Long Island/Westchester and Washington DC are also $94,500 - $189,000.
