About the role
The Taxation Division promotes voluntary compliance with all tax laws through information, education, assistance, and customer service. As a Tax Examiner I, you will review tax returns for accuracy and completeness, ensure returns can be processed as filed, resolve errors, and contact taxpayers to obtain missing information. You may also analyze accounting files, issue refunds or bills, calculate penalty and interest, collect delinquent taxes, handle taxpayer complaints, adjust discrepancies, and work with other taxing authorities such as the IRS or local municipalities.
The Service Centers serve as the “face” of the Taxation Division. Our team of dedicated professionals works collaboratively within the Customer Contact Group to promote voluntary compliance through education, assistance, and customer service. These centers are located in Denver Metro, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Fort Collins, and Grand Junction to provide taxpayers with in-person accessibility for filing, payments, information, and other resources.
We are seeking a courteous and friendly team player with experience in a diverse, customer-focused environment to serve as a Tax Examiner I. Ideal candidates are adaptable, proficient with computer software applications, and eager to learn and grow in an evolving atmosphere.
