Systems Engineer

About the role

The role involves supporting the IBM cloud Pak for data platform, focusing on full-stack automation on OpenShift and IBM Cloud Pak for Data. The ideal candidate will have a combination of technical skills, knowledge, and experience in containerization, Linux, networking, security, and OpenShift administration.

Responsibilities

• Manage and troubleshoot OpenShift clusters using the OpenShift CLI and OpenShift web console.
• Create, manage, and scale projects and applications in OpenShift.
• Manage container images, including building, pushing, and pulling images.
• Use Kubernetes CLI and Kubernetes networking concepts to manage and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters.
• Automate OpenShift tasks using tools like Ansible.
• Maintain monitoring and logging of OpenShift clusters using tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Ensure the backup and restoration of OpenShift clusters, including etcd and persistent volumes.
• Optimize the performance and scalability of OpenShift clusters.
• Collaborate with development teams, understanding agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.

Requirements

• Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration certification.
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification.
• Linux Administration experience.
• Proficiency in scripting and Python.
• Experience with automation tools and infrastructure support.
• Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing.
• Understanding of security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
• Experience with Kubernetes concepts, including pods, services, deployments, and persistent volumes.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools, such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Experience with backup and restore procedures, including etcd and persistent volumes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with development teams.
