Systems Engineer
About the role
The Systems Engineer supports the development, modification, and integration of complex systems and subsystems, focusing on functional analysis, empirical evaluation, requirements decomposition, and system-level validation. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working across hardware, software, and integration environments and thrive in structured, mission-critical defense programs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct functional and empirical analysis to support the design, development, and implementation of hardware, systems, and subsystems.
- Perform requirements analysis using tools such as DOORS, Doors Next, or JAZZ, ensuring traceability and clarity across system components.
- Decompose top-level requirements into actionable subsystem and component-level requirements, supporting both hardware and software teams.
- Execute system integration and testing, validating system behavior, identifying discrepancies, and supporting root-cause analysis.
- Perform systems-level troubleshooting and debugging during validation and test phases, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Utilize MATLAB for modeling, simulation, and data analysis to evaluate system performance and support design decisions.
- Apply strong Linux knowledge to support integration, testing, scripting, and system-level diagnostics.
- Document test procedures, verification results, analysis findings, and technical recommendations in a clear and structured format.
- Participate in technical reviews, requirement walkthroughs, and design discussions to ensure system reliability, safety, and compliance.
- Support continuous improvement of tools, processes, and methodologies related to requirements analysis, integration, and test.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- 2–7 years of experience in systems engineering, including requirements analysis, data analytics, integration, and test.
- Proficiency in MATLAB for modeling, simulation, and data analysis.
- Hands-on experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Doors Next, or JAZZ.
- Strong working knowledge of Linux for system integration, testing, and command-line operations.
- Ability to obtain or already possess an Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to real-time operating systems or embedded software environments.
- Familiarity with Agile tools such as JIRA for tracking requirements and development tasks.
- Experience validating message-based systems, pub/sub architectures, or distributed system behavior.
- Understanding of system verification methods, test planning, and structured documentation practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Moorestown, NJ.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $68.00/hr.
