System Command Center Technician

About the role

Serves as a Systems Command Center Technician for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), performing journey-level enterprise system operations control work and computer control functions in a multi-processing computer environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform startups, shutdowns, system dumps (tasks, system, spool, etc.), and other control functions for a multi-processing computer environment.
  • Monitor mainframe systems and log and respond to system issues to ensure appropriate availability of resources.
  • Research, resolve, and circumvent interruptions to processing components by following standard operational processes, procedures, and checklists.
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the information technology field through continuing education via online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required that are reasonably within the scope of the enumerated duties.

Requirements

  • Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  • One (1) year of related data processing experience.

Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
