Switchboard Operator

About the role

Answers incoming telephone calls, schedules patient appointments, validates eligibility, routes calls to the appropriate employee or provider and takes messages as required. Performs various office duties in the medical office setting for proficient operations and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with staff, patients, insurance companies, and physicians
• Show attention to detail
• Use strong computer skills and knowledge in Word, Excel
• Multi-task in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
• Adhere strictly to HIPAA laws
• Provide excellent customer service and phone skills
• Take messages and schedule appointments
• Validate eligibility and route calls appropriately
• Perform various office duties to ensure efficient operations and patient satisfaction

Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated attention to detail
• Good English speaking, spelling, reading, and mathematical skills
• Ability to learn quickly and follow directions
• Strong computer skills and knowledge in Word, Excel
• One year of operator or medical office front/back work experience preferred
• Medical terminology knowledge
• Insurance knowledge
• Ability to multi-task in a fast and high-pressure environment
• Strong typing skills (40+ wpm)
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
