Job Summary Responsible for scheduling hospital-based procedures/surgeries in accordance with physician’s orders and insurance requirements, ensuring all necessary paperwork and required tests needed prior to surgery are accurately completed, and clearly communicated pre- and post-surgery instructions to patients. Ensures reconciliation of all dropped charges to ensure they match authorized procedures and escalate to appropriate parties, if necessary. Responsible for maintaining and managing resources, including insurance portal access, and provides consistent documentation in EPIC to support the obtained insurance authorization. Communicates changes in payer and or federal regulatory guidelines to their manager, pharmacy staff, providers and other clinical departments, as applicable. The Scheduler covers multiple Urology offices in the East region, bringing variety to your workday and the chance to collaborate across multiple teams and communities. Reliable transportation needed. Communicates with patient to provide pre- and post-surgery instructions, and obtains completed consent forms and required tests or preparations needed prior to surgery. Prepares and distributes surgery packets to patients. Keeps physician and clinical staff informed regarding pre-op testing and maintains updated documentation and charts available for physician review. Coordination with hospital staff for scheduling according to assigned block time and collaboration with hospital teams for inpatient case coordination and add-ons.Ensures necessary H&P, surgical clearance, blood work and other patient tests are completed. Scan all necessary clinical documents.Contacts insurance company to obtain pre-certification of surgeries based on booking sheet and documents in chart. Responsible for maintaining and obtaining all surgical authorizations. Updates surgical authorizations with changes related to booked cases. Qualifications Three years of experience in a healthcare setting required.Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding required Computer skills; experience with practice management software preferredExceptional organization skills and attention to detailAbility to communicate in other languages is highly desirable With locations around the state, Hartford HealthCare offers exciting opportunities for career development and growth.
