About the role
This coordinator position in our Surety department focuses on data entry and customer service. Based at our Fairfield, Ohio headquarters, you’ll handle policy processing, customer interactions, and administrative tasks with increasing independence.
Responsibilities
- Follow operations and Surety department best practices.
- Handle a moderate to high level of customer service by phone and email, operating within authority and independently.
- Train to achieve improvement and independence in role responsibilities.
- Process new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations of policies and bonds as directed by underwriters.
- Maintain files, prepare documents, and manage mailings.
- Code and rate bonds, and perform data entry in various department applications and company systems.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Act as a direct contact with accounting and agents to resolve discrepancies without involving underwriters.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with agents, managers, underwriters, Surety Field Reps, and accounting.
- Understand and apply operations and Surety department best practices.
- Handle basic to moderate customer service inquiries by phone and email effectively and within authority.
- Complete daily activities with minimal guidance, demonstrating increased independence and decision-making capability within guidelines.
- Process agency changes, transfers, and closings on policies and bonds.
Requirements
- Exhibit good communication and listening skills.
- Type at 50 words per minute (WPM).
- Develop problem-solving skills and recognize when to ask questions.
- Possess basic skills in MS Word, Excel, and Access.
- Build positive relationships with agents, team members, department associates, and agency accounting.
- Exhibit strong, clear, and concise communication skills.
- Employ effective problem-solving skills.
- Maintain awareness of team needs and goals; offer ideas for improvements, assist with planning for travel, and help manage backlog.
- Remain calm and patient under tough or stressful circumstances.
- Effectively manage an increased workload, including extra assignments.
- Develop and actively demonstrate a positive attitude; be friendly, approachable, and adaptable to a changing environment.
- Manage time effectively and demonstrate the ability to multitask.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $35,000 - $45,000, determined by the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
