SUPV IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN)
About the Role
This position is in the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) under 10 USC 1599f and does not convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is identified as necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command, classified under the Supervision/Management Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. The role is located in the DISA - HC/Special Services Line of Business.
Responsibilities
- Persuade or influence others to gain concurrence on major issues affecting the supervised organization.
- Plan and supervise the work of a unit with clearly defined programs and objectives, and a fully established organizational structure.
- Develop work schedules and sequences of operations for assigned personnel to ensure deadlines are met and workflow remains consistent.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- This national security position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance; failure to maintain eligibility may result in termination.
- Must complete Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements within 12 months, per DoD 8140 policy series.
- Designated as "Mission Essential"; incumbent may be required to report to work or relocate within the U.S. during local or national emergencies.
- Subject to recall or call-back during off-shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management.
Qualifications
To qualify for this GG-13 position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Attention to Detail: Experience reviewing information technology-related work or data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
- Customer Service: Experience maintaining customer relationships, assessing IT needs, and developing or identifying tailored IT products and services.
- Oral Communication: Experience briefing mid-level management and IT staff on system status, projects, or daily operations, including communicating technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Problem Solving: Experience identifying alternatives to address complex IT-related issues by gathering and applying information from multiple sources.
Qualifying Experience: At least one year of experience demonstrating competencies necessary for immediate success, including leading teams in managing enterprise hardware and software, and implementing strategic initiatives supporting on-premise or cloud infrastructure operations. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience in their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-13 grade level.

- This position is in the Excepted Service and does not confer eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service.
- A three-year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
- Subject to a one-year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position.
- Telework availability is based on mission requirements and supervisory determination.
- Individuals tentatively selected may be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement.
- Moving costs and recruitment, relocation, or retention incentives may be authorized.
- The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 may make certain reimbursements/payments taxable; eligible appointees may qualify for the Relocation Income Tax Allowance (RITA).
- Veterans' Preference will be applied to eligible candidates in accordance with DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 3005.
- Annuitants' eligibility for employment is determined by DoD policy issued March 18, 2004.
