Job Responsibilities

Affords assistance to shop foremen and crews in acquiring supplies, specifically preparing shopping carts for procurement of parts, materials, tools, and supplies necessary for maintenance operations and repair activities. Prepares quotes, compares prices, and coordinates purchasing activities according to organizational policies. Monitors and tracks purchase orders, deliveries, and vendor performance. Collaborates with vendors and suppliers to ensure prompt delivery of required materials. Maintains procurement documentation and records utilizing DOT-implemented software. Ensures timely payment of all purchases. Adheres to SCDOT policies regarding credit card purchases. Retains and stores all purchasing documentation such as invoices and receipts. Keeps within designated purchasing budget. Monitors fuel inventory and usage. Tracks fuel transactions and maintains accurate electronic records. Reconciles fuel usage reports. Manages fuel cards, including issuance, collection, replacement, and recordkeeping. Distributes fuel cards to authorized personnel and maintains documentation of card assignments. Investigates discrepancies and assists with audits related to fuel purchases and consumption. Monitors supervisor fuel card usage. Maintains precise and detailed inventory records for parts, tools, supplies, and equipment. Conducts routine inventory counts and identifies discrepancies. Monitors inventory levels to ensure operational readiness. Implements inventory control measures to minimize loss, waste, and theft. Orders uniforms for the entire maintenance department and keeps detailed records of distribution. Orders, issues, and tracks Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all Laurens Maintenance employees. Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the storage room area in compliance with OSHA safety and fire regulations. Issues parts and supplies to mechanics and shop personnel while maintaining accountability records. Ensures proper storage, labeling, and organization of inventory items. Manages concessions for employees. Maintains accurate time records for shop personnel and ensures all timekeeping is completed, reviewed, and submitted within established deadlines. Verifies timekeeping and work records for completeness and accuracy before submission or processing. Maintains and disposes of records in accordance with SCDOT policies. Operates shop software for all phases, including but not limited to shop tickets, work orders, preventative maintenance, and posting of shop parts to tickets. Assists with emergency and inclement weather operations. This may involve being available for extended working hours, including 12-hour shifts.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and six (6) months of work experience directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Physical demands include sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods and working on a computer. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. May be required to work outside normal business hours.
