Supervisory General Engineer.

This position involves professional engineering work focused on the maintenance, repair, and improvement of the Installation’s infrastructure, including buildings, structures, roads, bridges, railroads, airfields, grounds, and utilities systems.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes professional engineering knowledge to develop and program projects for infrastructure maintenance, repair, and improvement.
• Supervises a multi-disciplined team (civil, mechanical, architectural, and electrical engineers) serving as technical advisors for buildings, grounds, and utilities activities.
• Assigns projects to Design Branch staff based on workload and expertise.
• Coordinates design development involving multiple engineering disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural, and environmental) to produce complete contract packages.
• Oversees project management for the design portion of construction contracts, including NAF, OMA, and MCA projects, and provides technical assistance during the construction phase.
• Serves as an engineering consultant and technical advisor to the Chief of Engineering Division and the Director of Public Works.
• Travel requirement: 5% Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel.
• Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver’s License to operate vehicles.
• Regular duties may require lifting up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

To qualify, you must meet the following requirements:

• Basic Requirement for Supervisory General Engineer:
  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering from a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), or
  • Degree with differential and integral calculus plus courses in five of the following seven areas:
    • statics, dynamics;
    • strength of materials (stress-strain relationships);
    • fluid mechanics, hydraulics;
    • thermodynamics;
    • electrical fields and circuits;
    • nature and properties of materials;
    • any comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics (e.g., optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics).
  • Combination of Education and Experience: College-level education, training, and/or technical experience demonstrating:
    • thorough knowledge of physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and
    • a good understanding of engineering sciences and techniques.
    Must be demonstrated by one of the following:
    • Professional registration or licensure (e.g., Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE));
    • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or equivalent;
    • At least 60 semester hours of courses in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences;
    • Completion of a related curriculum (e.g., engineering technology, physics, architecture) with at least 1 year of professional engineering experience under supervision.
• Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, including:
  • Utilizing applied knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines to plan, coordinate, and design construction, renovation, and improvement projects;
  • Coordinating all phases of project development through design completion;
  • Developing project scopes, cost estimates, and resource allocation.
• Foreign education must be evaluated by a private organization specializing in foreign credential interpretation and deemed equivalent to a U.S. accredited program.

Pay

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to Joint Travel Regulations and agency determination.
