About the Role

Oversee all aspects of billing and Accounts Receivable activities for all payors. Serve as a liaison with other department representatives and advise staff on billing and accounts receivables policies and procedures. Supervise billing, insurance, and collection staff to ensure accurate, complete, and timely filing, insurance follow-up, collections, variances, and denials. Oversee the training of all new employees in the assigned area and perform tasks such as editing and report writing using EHR and clearinghouse software.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise staff in assigned work units.
  • Assist the Revenue Cycle Director with developing policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Ensure all PFS employees reach KPI performance metric targets and departmental production standards of productivity and quality.
  • Monitor billing edits and rejections; provide feedback to the original owner for training, process improvement, or real-time edits.
  • Analyze A/R to ensure staff achieve productivity targets and adjust priorities to meet organizational or departmental goals.
  • Analyze variances to report trends to payers or the Managed Care Department for contract module updates.
  • Ensure denial trending is accurately reported and feedback is provided to the original owner for real-time edits.
  • Perform complex activities involving auditing, processing, and maintenance of daily reports.
  • Assist in preparing reports on progress, adverse trends, and recommendations or conclusions.
  • Review patient accounting transactions such as refunds, discounts, and write-offs according to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain liaison with supervisors, managers, and department heads to resolve problems concerning patient accounts receivable and outstanding insurance accounts.
  • Maintain familiarity and competence with billing and accounting systems.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes impacting billing and collections; communicate changes to staff.
  • Act as a technical resource regarding insurance claims, billing procedures, and collection policies; communicate new work policies and procedures to employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in business administration, management, or accounting. Degree may be waived with five years of proven practical experience in patient financial services.
  • Revenue cycle leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of principles of overseeing a patient accounting office.
  • Extensive knowledge of Government payers including Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and Medicaid Health Plans.

Schedule

Full-Time; Monday - Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay

Salary/Exempt $52,000 – $76,000; based on work experience
