Supervisor of Operating Room Day Shift

About the role

Oversight of the Team over 19 operating rooms that are open 24/7. Works alongside an PM shift supervisor. Hours are salary varying from 6am to 5pm.

Major Responsibilities

• Maintains staff scheduling, evaluates staffing levels and makes adjustments as necessary to maintain productivity level established for assigned area(s).
• Communicates with patient care units regarding changes/openings in schedule.
• Coordinates operating room resources to accommodate unscheduled and emergency surgical procedures.
• Monitors and assesses operating room resources (personnel, equipment, and rooms) in order to efficiently orchestrate the correct set-up for surgical procedures.
• Expedites surgery schedule as it relates to both elective and non-elective procedures.
• Promotes communication and serves as a clinical resource for patients, families, hospital departments, and medical staff to optimize the interdependence of all team members.
• Coordinates the needs of physicians and acts as liaison between the medical staff and the nursing staff by serving as a problem solver and mediator.
• Evaluates the quality of patient care provided through collaboration with unit and organization resource people.
• Affirms policies and procedures are in compliance with those of the medical center, the nursing department, and regulatory agencies.
• Provides direct patient care by performing the nursing process, guided by policies, procedures and standards, to deliver safe, therapeutic, quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale.
• Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations.
• Understands and adheres to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and ensures that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.

Requirements

• Licensed Registered Nurse in the state in which the team member practices, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Typically requires 3 years of experience in nursing within an operating room or surgical services.

Qualifications

• Advanced clinical and technical knowledge of the surgery, endoscopy, and pre-operative and post-operative areas.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills necessary.
• Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously.

Skills

• Knowledge of the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct.
• Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Benefits

Pay

Pay Range $44.15 - $66.25

Schedule

Hours vary from 6am to 5pm.
