About the role
Routinely supervises other staff and maintains the home's operations in compliance with licensing rules. Assumes full management responsibilities in the absence of the ED/Administrator.
Responsibilities
- Note and report errors in the administration of medications.
- Develop and implement procedures to prevent medication errors.
- Complete necessary forms, charts, reports, and participate in facility surveys/inspections.
- Attend and participate in QA Programs, the Pharmaceutical Services Committee, and other facility committees.
- Participate in Care Plan meetings and continuing education programs.
- Provide assistance to residents with activities of daily living.
- Work cooperatively with all other staff and maintain a friendly, productive relationship.
- Resolve residents’ needs and attend tours of the facility as needed.
- Conduct orientation and supervision of staff during assigned shifts.
- Maintain the general well-being of residents and respond quickly to call lights, alarms, and other signaling devices.
- Report any complaints or grievances made by residents to the Administrator.
- Ensure medications are stored properly in the building.
- Help maintain resident confidentiality and rights.
- Be available to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old.
- Minimum of six months of supervisory experience.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Able to bend, stoop, squat, and reach overhead as needed.
- CPR Certified or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
- Have or obtain C.N.A. or Personal Care Aide Certificate within 6 months of hire.
- Have or obtain 15-Hour Medication Aide Certificate within 30 days of hire.
- Complete Medication Aide Check off within 30 days of hire.
- Have or obtain Medication Aide Certification within 60 days of check off.
- No substantiated findings on the NC Personnel Registry or Health Care Program during employment.
- A clear SBI record during employment.
- Two-step tuberculin skin test (first test prior to hire and second test within two weeks of first test).
- Able to make independent decisions when warranted.
- Able to deal tactfully with various individuals.
- Able to work harmoniously with others.
- Able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people.
