About the role
Routinely supervises other staff and maintains the home's operations in compliance with licensing rules. Assumes full management responsibilities in the absence of the ED/Administrator.
Responsibilities
- Note and report errors in the administration of medications.
- Develop and implement procedures to prevent medication errors.
- Complete necessary forms, charts, and reports.
- Participate in facility surveys/inspections and QA Programs.
- Attend and participate in Care Plan meetings.
- Participate in continuing education programs.
- Follow safety precautions and report hazardous conditions.
- Provide assistance to residents with activities of daily living.
- Work cooperatively with all other staff and residents.
- Resolve residents' needs and attend to visitor requests.
- Conduct tours of the facility and maintain continuous monitoring of the halls.
- Supervise staff during shifts and assist with new resident orientations.
- Maintain the general well-being of residents and respond to call lights and alarms.
- Report complaints or grievances to the Administrator.
- Ensure proper storage of medications.
- Help maintain resident confidentiality and rights.
- Avoid neglect, abuse, or exploitation of residents.
- Comply with federal HIPAA laws.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old.
- Minimum of six months of supervisory experience.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and follow directions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and reach overhead.
- CPR Certified or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
- Have or obtain C.N.A. or Personal Care Aide Certificate within 6 months of hire.
- Have or obtain 15-Hour Medication Aide Certificate within 30 days of hire.
- Complete Medication Aide Check off within 30 days of hire.
- Have or obtain Medication Aide Certification within 60 days of check off.
- No substantiated findings on the NC Personnel Registry or Health Care Program.
- A clear SBI record.
- Two-step tuberculin skin test (first test prior to hire, second within two weeks).
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Willingness to work harmoniously with others.
- Ability to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people.
- Available to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies.
Qualifications

- Must be CPR certified or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
- Must have or obtain C.N.A. or Personal Care Aide Certificate within 6 months of hire.
- Must have or obtain 15-Hour Medication Aide Certificate within 30 days of hire.
- Must complete Medication Aide Check off within 30 days of hire.
- Must have or obtain Medication Aide Certification within 60 days of check off.
- Must have no substantiated findings on the NC Personnel Registry or Health Care Program.
- Must have a clear SBI record.
- Must have a two-step tuberculin skin test (first test prior to hire, second within two weeks of first test).
