About the role
Routinely supervises other staff and maintains the home's operations in compliance with licensing rules. Assumes full management responsibilities in the absence of the ED/Administrator.
Responsibilities
- Note and report errors in the administration of medications.
- Develop and implement procedures to prevent medication errors.
- Complete necessary forms, charts, and reports.
- Participate in facility surveys/inspections and QA Programs.
- Attend and participate in Care Plan meetings.
- Participate in continuing education programs.
- Follow safety precautions and report hazardous conditions.
- Provide assistance to residents with activities of daily living.
- Work cooperatively with other staff and residents.
- Resolve residents' needs and attend to visitor requests.
- Conduct tours of the facility.
- Respond to staff and resident concerns.
- Maintain care plans and medications.
- Report any complaints or grievances to the Administrator.
- Ensure resident safety and confidentiality.
- Assist in evacuating residents during emergencies.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old.
- Minimum of six months of supervisory experience.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Able to bend, stoop, squat, and reach overhead.
- CPR certified or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
- Have or obtain C.N.A. or Personal Care Aide Certificate within 6 months of hire.
- Have or obtain Medication Aide Certificate within 30 days of hire.
- Complete Medication Aide Check off within 30 days of hire.
- Have or obtain Medication Aide Certification within 60 days of Check off.
- No substantiated findings on the NC Personnel Registry or Health Care Program.
- A clear SBI record.
- Two-step tuberculin skin test (first test prior to hire, second test within two weeks of first test).
Qualifications
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Willingness to work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the community.
- Maintain resident confidentiality and resident rights at all times.
- Availability to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies.
