About the role

The Supervisor Health Information at Dignity Health Medical Group is responsible for managing and safeguarding patient health records. This includes coordinating meaningful use initiatives, supervising personnel, and ensuring accurate processing of information into the EMR system through scanning, batching, quality checks, and auditing.

Responsibilities

  • Processes requests for the release/copy of medical information in a timely and accurate manner, following established procedures.
  • Responsible for clinical data extraction, ensuring data quality, integrity, and timeliness.
  • Affirms data accuracy, identifies data management needs, and demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including development for performance improvement activities with monitoring.
  • Safeguards the control, use, and release of health information.
  • Maintains current knowledge of statutes, regulations, and accreditation standards impacting ROI practices, with a special focus on federal regulations and public reporting.
  • Plans for current and future staff, equipment, and computer needs, and manages these resources effectively.

Requirements

  • Completion of an RN program or completion within 6 months of hire.
  • One (1) year of experience in a HIM department.
  • Extensive knowledge of HIPAA and Release of Information regulatory mandates.
  • Ability to read and write effectively.
  • High degree of tact and effective communication of legal/regulatory requirements.
  • Strong computer knowledge, including understanding of legal and regulatory mandates and accrediting standards.
  • High degree of skill in human relations and communication, able to deal constructively with a wide variety of persons and personalities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Composure in a busy working environment.
  • Technical and critical thinking skills required to complete duties as described in this job description.

Preferred

  • Degree in relevant field.
  • One (1) year supervisory experience.
