Supervisor Ambulatory Clinical Operations LPN - York Hospital Wellness Center - Days

Functions as part of the management team, performing a variety of clinical and administrative duties related to clinical staff management and patient care. Provides safe, therapeutic, efficient quality care and services to all patients served.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. No weekends or holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe environment for both patients and employees by managing internal office functions related to clinical care and quality monitoring, including ensuring medical equipment and supplies are readily available and monitored for safety and quality control.
  • Ensures required documentation of quality control inspections is completed, including temperature readings, expiration date assessments, and maintenance of emergency supplies and equipment.
  • Assigns and delegates tasks to clinical support staff in accordance with the State Board of Nursing Licensing Regulations and the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Ensures an efficient day-to-day clinical workflow within the practice and assures staff function in accordance with standard workflow procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies including OSHA, CLIA, Vaccines for Children (VFC), Department of Health, and Federal Meaningful Use Standards.
  • Ensures environmentally safe practices, including maintenance of the Materials Safety Data Sheet manual.
  • Ensures compliance with the standards of the Patient Centered Medical Home and Neighborhood, and all WMG policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Coordinates efforts with employee health to ensure annual flu vaccination or exemption approval for all office staff.
  • Assists in developing clinical policies and procedures and monitors quality assessment activities, including chart audits for documentation compliance.
  • Attends meetings and clinical competency training sessions; communicates regularly with staff for timely exchange of information.
  • Manages and documents patient concerns and quality of care issues using Just Culture principles.
  • Applies Lean principles to identify opportunities for process improvement and provides leadership in achieving clinical practice excellence.
  • Performs all responsibilities of the Medical Assistant and Physician Office Nurse.
  • Monitors Risk and Safety Management Alert System (RASMAS) notices and completes necessary follow-up.
  • Monitors staff completion of clinical tasks within the patient electronic medical record and MyWellspan patient portal.
  • Monitors staff compliance with Diagnostic Test Tracking and proper management of patients on anticoagulation therapy using Coag Tracker, if applicable.
  • Monitors staff compliance and application of competencies; mentors clinical staff and assists in clinical advancement.
  • Trains, mentors, and monitors staff performing phone triage procedures.
  • Ensures staff competency for accurate electronic medical record documentation and appropriate training on new equipment, procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinates clinical training and orientation of new/floater staff; assigns preceptors when applicable.
  • Audits staff performance where indicated, including Standing Orders, Exam Room Support, PCMH, Diagnostic Test Tracking, Med Reconciliation, and PCMN.
  • Assumes manager role when Practice Manager/Front Office Supervisor is unavailable.
  • Serves in a leadership role on the Quality Improvement Team (QIT) to improve quality and safety; co-leads monthly Quality all-staff/all-provider meetings with Provider Champion.
  • Prepares agendas and holds regular clinical staff meetings; serves on WMG clinical committees.
  • Assists providers and the Care Coordination Team in managing patient care according to risk and identifying patients in need of Case Management.
  • Works with leadership to deliver patient care through practice integration of multidisciplinary clinical and centralized services.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement related to patient experience metrics and coaches staff on providing an excellent patient experience.
  • Assists and educates clinical staff on entering Safety Reporting System (SRS) events and Customer Reporting System (CRS) complaints and compliments.
  • Supervises clinical staff by training, allocating, and monitoring work; prepares work schedules and approves/disapproves scheduled time off.
  • Assists Manager and Clinical Operations Coordinator with interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, and retention of clinical staff; evaluates performance of designated clinical staff.
  • Coordinates continuing education of clinical staff and ensures clinical competencies are met, documented, and maintained.
  • Trains, mentors, and coordinates preceptorship of new clinical staff; strives for high employee satisfaction and engagement.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles over the patient lifespan and provides age-specific treatment.
  • Commits to patient, visitor, and staff safety by complying with safety regulations, reporting errors, and identifying opportunities to standardize processes.
  • Maintains established policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Maintains professional growth and development; provides outstanding service to all customers and practices fiscal responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Diploma or Associate’s Degree from an accredited LPN program.
  • Work Experience: 3 years of clinical nursing experience required; previous office and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Licenses: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) upon hire; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Requires a good clinical knowledge base and the ability to obtain additional clinical knowledge as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; models teamwork and is self-motivated.
