Summer Youth Job Coach (Non-Driver)
Job Details
Harbor is seeking Summer Youth Job Coaches for its Summer Youth program in Toledo and surrounding areas. This position provides vocational rehabilitation and job coaching services to Harbor-funded and referred clients.
About the Role
This is a part-time position during the summer only. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, with a bachelor’s degree in teaching/training or a related field preferred. Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Word, is required. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Document daily and weekly progress notes, monthly participant evaluations, detailed job-task analyses, incident report forms, and other necessary documentation.
- Analyze jobs and work environments at worksites and break down jobs into trainable steps.
- Maintain communication with funding/referral sources weekly to provide updates on youth's progress.
- Absess client readiness for employment and formulate appropriate interventions to assist the client in achieving employment goals.
- Aid clients in identifying and communicating their interests, skills, and aptitudes to explore potential vocational choices.
- Ensure compliance with minor labor laws regarding break requirements, work schedules, work activities, equipment/tool use, and safety procedures when working with minors.
- Provide information on the effects of employment on entitlements such as SSI/SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare, Section 8, Food Stamps, to help clients make informed decisions.
- Provide individual and/or group job coaching at the worksite, assist clients in developing employment opportunities, and learn job skills as needed.
- Make home visits/outreach to engage clients in vocational services and provide support, education, and consultation.
- Assist clients in gaining access to essential community resources and linking with appropriate vocational resources.
- Attend required meetings and trainings, and consult with supervisors regarding appropriate referrals for clients to vocational services and community programs.
- Collaborate with clients, families, and significant others to increase social support skills and networks.
- Coordinate evaluations and assessments by internal and/or external providers, monitor all services identified in the CRP, IEP, BESI, and DSI, and provide assistance in accessing essential community resources and vocational services.
- Keep current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies and demonstrate continued growth.

- Evaluation: Analysis of jobs and work environments, breaking down jobs into trainable steps, assessing client readiness, and assisting in exploring vocational choices.
- Evaluation and Monitoring: Maintaining communication with funding/referral sources, providing updates on youth's progress, assessing client readiness, and coordinating evaluations and assessments.
- Job Coaching: Providing individual and/or group job coaching, developing employment opportunities, learning job skills, and making home visits/outreach.
- Collaboration: Assisting clients in increasing social support skills and networks, coordinating evaluations and assessments, and providing support, education, and consultation.
- Special Work Conditions: Keeping current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies and demonstrating continued growth.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in teaching/training or a related field preferred.
- Proficient in computer use, including Microsoft Word.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
