Summer Youth Job Coach
Job Details
Harbor is seeking Summer Youth Job Coaches for its Summer Youth program in Elyria. This position provides vocational rehabilitation and job coaching services to Harbor-funded and referred clients.
About the Role
This is a part-time position during the summer only. The ideal candidate must have a High School Diploma/GED equivalent and a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and personal auto insurance policy.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the quality and completeness of the electronic record.
- Absolutely accurate and timely documentation, including daily and weekly progress notes, monthly participant evaluations, detailed job-task analysis, incident report forms, and any other necessary documentation.
- Analyzes jobs and work environments at worksites and breaks down jobs into trainable steps.
- Maintains communication with funding/referral sources weekly to provide updates on youth’s progress.
- Affirms client readiness for employment and formulates appropriate interventions to assist the client in achieving employment goals.
- Aids the client in identifying and communicating their interests, skills, and aptitudes to explore possible vocational choices.
- Ensures compliance with minor labor laws regarding break requirements, work schedules, work activities, equipment/tool use, and safety procedures when working with minors.
- Aids the client in obtaining information about the effects of employment on entitlements such as SSI/SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare, Section 8, Food Stamps, etc., to help the client make informed decisions.
- Provides individual and/or group job coaching at the workplace.
- Aids the client in developing employment opportunities and the skills needed to maintain employment.
- Engages clients in vocational services through home visits and outreach.
- Aids the client in learning job skills as needed, individually or in groups.
- Performs community outreach to engage clients and provide necessary support services.
- Communicates with supervisor regarding appropriate referrals for the client to vocational services and community programs.
- Supports, educates (e.g., benefits counseling, advantages of employment), and consults with clients, families, and/or significant others.
- Attends all required meetings and trainings.
