About This Job
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is responsible for managing and protecting the state’s renewable natural resources, including all wildlife and aquatic life. LDWF supports a strong work ethic in its employees and incorporates the use of good science, accurate information and technology. The incumbent of this position serves as a Student Intern in the Office of Management and Finance Division – Human Resources Section.
Participation Requirements
- A student enrolled in an accredited Louisiana college, university, or state-operated technical college who is either:
- Classified as a full-time student under their school’s criteria,
- In their final two semesters and taking the courses needed to graduate, even if not full-time.

Position-Specific Details
- Appointment Type: Unclassified student position.
- Work Schedule: Part-time position that will report in-office. This position may average 20 hours per week. Depending on the time of year, the student may be allowed to work more.
Minimum Qualifications
- No prior experience or training required.
- Incumbent must be a full time student to be eligible for this position.
- Pursuit of a BA/BS degree with a concentration in Human Resources Management or an MS/MBA with a concentration in Human Resources.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
- Have the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels in the organization.
- Possess a general knowledge and experience in the use of a personal computer and various software applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Job Duties and Other Information
- Answering the phone and routing calls.
- Assisting HR Specialist with the New Hire Orientation process.
- Scanning documents.
- Filing information in employee records.
- Making badges and setting up building access for employees.
- Miscellaneous other projects.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Louisiana driver’s license.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
