Role Overview
The Staff Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides specialized nursing care based on principles from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and direct patient care with a focus on family-centered approaches.
- Deliver comprehensive care addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs for patients of all ages.
- Exhibit leadership and professionalism, including mentoring new staff and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
- Support collaborative team efforts to ensure efficient operations, high-quality care, and excellent customer service.
- Engage in evidence-based practice, systems-based practice, informatics, and technology duties.
- May be temporarily assigned to different units within the organization based on patient needs.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or obtaining it within five years.
- Current RN licensure in Ohio and Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with ability to work under pressure.
- Experience working with diverse organizational levels and proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with electronic medical records like EPIC is preferred.
- Minimum of one year of healthcare experience; pediatric cardiac critical care experience is a plus.
Schedule
- Full-time position, primarily night shifts (7PM - 7:30AM).
- Onsite role with responsibilities including patient-centered care, leadership, education, and safety duties.
