About the role
This is a hybrid position requiring split time between our Louisville, KY office and remote work. The Sr. IT Engineer is responsible for providing a full range of IT support and technology services to internal and external customers, including administration, maintenance, and implementation of enterprise infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- First point of contact for troubleshooting IT problems and resolving issues when possible.
- Level 3, Level 2, and Level 1 support for VMs, switches, firewalls, Microsoft 365 and Azure solutions, cloud infrastructure, and privilege access in a zero-trust environment.
- Networking needs, maintenance, and support for firewalls, Level 3 and Level 7 switches, and other devices.
- Troubleshoot, support, and drive remediation for MDR endpoint solution issues and SIEM logging problems.
- Support Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and automated patching solutions.
- Strong working knowledge of identity management solutions, including MFA and related configurations.
- Support and interact with subcontractor vendors around backups and monitor server and backup status.
- Assist with user access needs, including creation, updates, and terminations for all required systems.
- Manage cloud-based products like RingCentral, Office 365, and Azure strategy and implementation.
- Log all IT problems via ITSM ticketing system (SYSAID), maintain ITSM use, and expand its adoption within the company.
- Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with endpoints (Windows 10 & 11) and servers.
- Support hypervisors—VMware and Nutanix—including maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting.
- Work with compliance teams on security certifications (ISO 27001:22, HiTrust, HIPAA).
- Support remediation efforts related to network, application, and cloud infrastructure penetration testing.
- Communicate with subcontractor partners on internal support activities.
- Update and maintain configuration documents and asset inventories.
- Apply endpoint updates, patches, and configuration changes using SYSAID or Windows updates.
- Answer technical queries and assist end users in the Louisville office.
- Monitor and maintain photocopiers and printers.
- Organize and inventory all hardware and software resources.
- Support migration of applications and services for new hardware.
- Perform on-site and remote technical and network support.
- Troubleshoot and assist with network infrastructure, VLANs, and general networking requirements.
- Maintain excellent communication with IT leaders on all tasks and projects.
- Provide basic support for SQL Server.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of Level 1, 2, and 3 support experience.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Highly organized with strong documentation and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work well with customers, end users, and provide technical guidance to Helpdesk Technicians. Technical Expertise:
- Strong desktop support expertise.
- Experience supporting, maintaining, and upgrading Windows in a corporate environment.
- Knowledge of SYSAID or ITSM (IT Service Management Software).
- Ability to manage file permissions on Windows servers and with Group Policies.
- Knowledge of Windows Server, Exchange, and Group Policy creation and maintenance.
- Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Server 2019 and 2022, Microsoft Exchange Server, M365, and Microsoft SQL Server 2019.
- Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and GPOs.
- Experience with VMware vSphere, iSCSI, or Nutanix Acropolis.
- Experience building a server from scratch, including hardware and OS installation.
- Foundational knowledge of networking and network troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of backups in an enterprise environment.
- Good understanding of Active Directory and Windows Server.
- Knowledge of Microsoft PowerShell.
- Experience with Nerdio or Beyond Trust is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in computer science or a related field preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of practical relevant work experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Pay
$100,000 - $125,000 per year.
