About the role
The Certified Pharmacy Technician supports Pharmacists in Specialty Rx medication preparation by dispensing Specialty Rx medications. The Specialty Operations Certified Pharmacy Technician performs varied activities and moderately complex administrative, operational, and customer support assignments. Performs computations and typically works on semi-routine assignments.
The Certified Pharmacy Technician takes in-bound phone calls from patients and providers, enters prescription orders into the system, and supports Pharmacists and Patients by ensuring adherence to Specialty Rx specific operational processes and programs developed to optimize health outcomes. This includes effective communication with patients and providers.
Decisions are typically focused on interpretation of area or department policy and methods for completing assignments. Works within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards but has some latitude over prioritization and timing, and works under minimal direction. Follows standard policies and practices that allow for some opportunity for interpretation, deviation, and independent discretion.
Responsibilities
- Dispense Specialty Rx medications under the supervision of Pharmacists.
- Handle in-bound phone calls from patients and healthcare providers.
- Enter prescription orders accurately into the system.
- Ensure adherence to Specialty Rx operational processes and programs to optimize health outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and pharmacists.
- Perform moderately complex administrative, operational, and customer support tasks.
- Use critical thinking to anticipate member or customer needs and take initiative.
- Solve problems and find viable solutions even when ideal tools or resources are unavailable.
Requirements
- Active license with the Board of Pharmacy in the state of residence (Ohio, Arizona, or Florida).
- Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or through ExCPT.
- Experience as a Pharmacy Technician or call center experience in a pharmacy or related setting.
- Moderate working knowledge of Excel.
Qualifications

- Problem solver capable of finding viable solutions to meet customer needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal direction and some latitude over prioritization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of RxNova, CRM, and/or ScriptMed.
- Experience using multiple computer applications simultaneously.
- Strong data entry skills.
Work at Home Requirements
- Self-provided internet service with a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps; wireless, wired cable, or DSL connection suggested.
- Work from a dedicated space free from ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI/HIPAA information.
Travel
While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.
Schedule
- An 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:30 PM EST.
- Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
Pay
The pay range reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The range may vary based on geographic location, and individual pay will depend on demonstrated job-related skills, knowledge, experience, education, and certifications.
$40,000 - $52,300 per year.
