Special Olympics NC: Golf Coaches & Assistant Coaches - Durham County

About the Role

Special Olympics is seeking passionate, dedicated, and knowledgeable volunteers to serve as golf coaches and assistant coaches for local Durham County athletes. As a coach, you will help athletes learn and improve their golfing skills by bringing game knowledge, enthusiasm, commitment, and a positive attitude to practices, events, and competitions. This role enriches the lives of athletes by building physical and social skills and instilling self-confidence.

Responsibilities

• Teach and refine golf skills for Special Olympics athletes.
• Bring enthusiasm, commitment, and a positive attitude to each practice and event.
• Support athletes in local and regional competitions, including the SONC Regional Invitationals and Fall Tournament in the Charlotte region (if interested).

Requirements

• Golf knowledge (no formal coaching experience required).
• Must be at least 18 years old to be a certified coach.
• Training will be provided.

Schedule

• Dates: Mondays, beginning September – November (8–10 weeks).
• Time: 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM.

Location: Hillandale Golf Course.
